Jubilant mood in Glasgow! The German Handball Federation (DHB) prevails: the Handball European Championship 2024 comes to Germany!
20.6.2018 – Cheers in Glasgow! Germany will host the European championship in men’s handball for the first time in 2024! The German Handball Federation (DHB) won the tender in Glasgow. With 27 to 19 votes, this was decided by the European Federation EHF Congress on Wednesday afternoon in Glasgow.
Mark Schober, CEO of the German Handball Federation, said: “We are looking forward to the Handball European Championship 2024 – and we would also like to thank the mm sports team, who supported us with great commitment and competence in designing and presenting our application to the EHF Congress.”
The following concept is outlined for the Euro 2024: Possible venues are Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Mannheim, Hanover, and the opening match will take place in a football stadium, the Düsseldorf ESPRIT Arena. The concept is that all halls have a minimum capacity of 10,000 spectators. This would make more spectators possible at an European Championship than ever before.
More details can be found in the press release of the DHB (in German).
