Football Fans in Training: a project of the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe)
Football fans in training – Your home game. Your club. Your health.
More exercise, a sportier lifestyle and a healthier diet are the focus of the health programme to help fans lose weight sustainably: Football fans in training is a programme for overweight football fans. The 12-week courses take place where the fans’ hearts beat: at the club’s sports facilities!
In 90-minute sessions, the professional trainers and coaches teach participants in theoretical and practical units how they can make small changes to positively influence their diet and improve their exercise behaviour. Everyone is given the opportunity to participate at their own pace – with the aim of making small but achievable progress!
After all, a balanced diet, fewer kilos and more fitness have a variety of positive effects: In addition to a better attitude to life and more energy, the risk of developing cancer, e.g. colon cancer, is also reduced.
Getting fit again together
Since the second half of the 2016/2017 season, the project has been implemented in 25 Bundesliga, 2nd Bundesliga and 3rd Bundesliga clubs by German Cancer Aid in collaboration with the Institute for Therapy and Health Research and mm sports.
The mm sports team provides support as a link in cooperation and communication with the participating clubs, in general project coordination and in the creation of project documents. The mm sports team also organises the FFIT tournaments for German Cancer Aid.
The aim is to win over as many more clubs as possible for FFIT in Germany and to enable numerous fans to benefit from this unique and sustainable prevention programme.
