German Handball Federation (DHB) – World Championship events 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029
A decade of handball is currently taking place in Germany: The men’s EHF EURO 2024, for which the German Handball Federation (DHB) was awarded the contract as organiser back in 2018, became a tournament of superlatives in terms of spectator numbers in the halls and in front of the screens – and thus set new standards!
The German Handball Federation will now also co-host the IHF Men’s World Championship with France in 2029, after the DHB already hosted the biggest international handball tournament in 2027. In 2025, the IHF Women’s World Championship will be organised jointly with the Netherlands. The DHB also organised the U21 World Championship in 2023 with outstanding success, further fuelling enthusiasm for handball in Germany!
It was an exciting challenge for the mm sports team to once again successfully support the German Handball Federation in its bid to host a major sporting event – just as out team did when the DHB was awarded the EHF EURO 2024. We are all the more delighted that the German Handball Federation has also been awarded the contract to jointly host the IHF Men’s World Championship in 2029 as a junior partner of the French Handball Federation!
“From 2023 to 2027, we will be hosting major handball events in Germany almost continuously. These are great opportunities to celebrate handball, build up stars and firmly anchor our sport in society. On this foundation, we can all together turn the 20s that have just begun into the decade of handball.” said Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Federation, when he was delighted with the awarding of the World Championship in 2027. The German Handball Federation now adds with a view to 2029: “The decade of handball continues with “Sustainable Thrills & Eventful Skills” – in other words, sustainable thrills and inspiring skills!”
„We as DHB are very much looking forward to the decade of handball! mm sports has supported us well this time again and reliably steered the project to success.“
Mark Schober, Chairman of the Board of the German Handball Federation (DHB)
