Vernissage: Lentze Stopper and mm sports show recent works by the artist Philipp Karl Moritz
With a well-attended vernissage entitled “like the honeybee, you took the best of me”, last Friday a new art exhibition started in the offices of the law firm Lentze Stopper and mm sports.
Philipp Karl Moritz presents his works in the coming weeks in the offices of the two companies at Widenmayerstrasse 28 in Munich. Born in 1977 in Munich, the artist studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and abroad. He lives and works in Berlin. In his sometimes very reduced compositions and collages, a continuous silent struggle between the abstract and representational world is revealed. What makes Philip Karl Moritz’s work peculiar and anchored in our fast-paced world of consumption is the shiny, leathery materiality of his paintings, the surface which he compresses for days at a time by rubbing the last of the still moist oil layers. Treated in such a way the surface creates a shimmering, almost rusting layer that literally captivates the viewer.
Philipp Karl Moritz – painting and collages. Exhibition until the 25th Jan. 2019 – Widenmayerstrasse 28 in Munich. Art lovers are welcome to view the works, please contact us in advance at info@mm-sports.eu.
